The Steps for How to Make the Frugal Fun Projects: Framed Doily:
Cut the cardboard to size. This example shows a 12 inches diameter doily framed in a 12x12 inches red
frame. The cardboard was cut to 12 by 12 inches.
If necessary, iron the doily and the background fabric. The background fabric should be larger than the
cardboard by roughly two inches on all sides. Though not exact, this cut fabric is 16 by 16 inches.
The edges will not be visible, therefore exact measurements and absolutely straight lines are not required.
Place the cardboard on the back side of the fabric. Fold each corner diagonally over the corners of the
cardboard. Pull until snug. Tape each corner. The tape will not be seen when framed.
Fold each of the four edges of the fabric over the cardboard pulling snugly to remove any wrinkles.
Turn the covered cardboard over and place the doily on the background fabric. Reposition the doily until you are
satisfied that you have the best presentation.
Remove the back of the frame and wipe the inside of the glass if necessary to remove any dust or smudges.
Position the doily inside the frame. Check for any unwanted lint inside the frame and remove it. Verify that the
doily is positioned the way you want it.
Turn the frame over to secure the back portion of the frame to hold the doily and fabric covered cardboard.
This frame has tension fasteners attached in the middle of the four edges.
Press the fastener until the end can fit under the edge of the frame and rotate the fastener. The edge should
catch under the frame to secure the contents.
Turn the finished frame over to make sure the doily did not shift.
The finished framed doily is ready to decorate your home or to become a gift for someone special.
Whether a skilled do-it-yourselfer or someone who wants a pretty decoration, with a few simple inexpensive
materials and tools, you can quickly and easily make this beautiful framed doily.
This simple project is fun, fast and rewarding for anyone to do.
Enjoy!
