Easy Christmas Crafts: Felt Stars Christmas Tree

The Felt Stars Christmas Tree project uses nine stars of graduated sizes in green craft felt with a tenth star in yellow craft felt for the topper. Leave it simple and pretty as a plain tree or decorate with whatever you prefer.

The project is fun, fast, easy and inexpensive.

This little tree uses yarn to connect the shapes. But, you could also use this pattern along with the beads and a chenille wire instead like that in the Felt and Chenille Wire Christmas Tree if you prefer.

The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Felt Stars Christmas Tree:

Print the Easy Christmas Crafts Felt Stars Christmas Tree Pattern.

Cut out each of the shapes and arrange in order by size.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 1 cut shapes
Organize the bead spacers. Note: I only used ONE pony bead between each layer, though I had planned to use more. The additional beads made the tree too spindly.

Pull and cut yarn roughly 36 inches long. Exact measurement is not necessary.

There just needs to be enough for a loop at the top, to go through all the shapes plus beads and to tie a knot at the bottom.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 2 shapes, beads and yarn
Fold the yarn in half and thread the two cut ends through the yarn needle.

Do not tie a knot in the yarn - yet.

Push the needle through the center of the yellow star and pull the yarn through until roughly four inches of the loop end is above the star.

Tie a knot in the yarn next to the star leaving the loop at the top.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 3 needle through star and tie knot
Push the needle through a bead and through the center of the first, smallest green felt star.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 4 add bead and second star
Continue pushing the needle through a bead and the next size of star until all of the stars have been added.

The yarn and yarn needle should extend out of the largest star on the bottom.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 5 pull yarn through last star
Use the needle to make a couple of small stitches in the bottom of the large star then tie a knot in the yarn.

Trim the yarn.

The little tree is fun and cute without any decorations, but you can add decorations such as sequins, earrings, shiny stickers, cut-outs from wrapping paper or anything else you desire.
Felt Stars Christmas Tree step 7 ready to display or decorate further
Hang the little Felt Stars Christmas Tree to display its many "branches" and its simplicity throughout the holiday.

This simple and fun little tree can be made quickly, easily and inexpensively. Plus, with its yarn "tree trunk," it's easy to store for another year.
