The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament:
Let's make the smaller version first.
Color around the outer edge of the four-inch paper doily on both the front and back of the paper doily. I used a red coloring pencil, but crayons or pens would also work.
Fold the paper doily with one-third on the top and two-thirds on the bottom. The "wrong" side of the doily should be inside the fold.
With the two-thirds side facing upward, use the ruler to determine the one-third point along the folded edge. Fold over one-third of the doily at this point.
Fold the paper doily again making a flat cone shape. Work with the shape until the cone edges are even on each side.
The larger flap rests under the smaller flap to showcase the fluted edges on the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament.
Measure and cut the yarn from 8 to 10 inches long. I used 8 inches. Ten inches makes a slightly bigger hanging loop.
Fold the yarn in half.
Add glue to the innermost fold line and place the cut ends of the folded yarn in the glue.
Add a small amount of glue to the area under the smaller, top layer of the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament.
Press the folds together and hold in place with a clip or clothespin.
After the glue dries, remove the clip and hang the simple and pretty Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament on the tree.
The second version is very similar, but it uses a 6-inch doily.
Measure, draw and cut a circle from the contrasting paper. If you don't have a compass to draw a circle, you can use a round object (e.g., a bowl) or just draw around the outer edge of the paper doily.
The paper should have the color on both sides. If you want to use a pretty but one-sided paper, just cut two circles and glue the wrong sides together.
Layer the paper doily over the paper circle with the right side of the paper doily facing up.
Fold the paper doily and the paper circle at the same time with one-third of the circle folded over two-thirds.
With the two-thirds portion of the circle facing upward, measure along the folded edge to determine a one-third point. Fold over the edge of the doily and paper at the one-third point.
Fold the other edge to form a conical shape.
Work with the shape until the edges are even.
The smaller flap should be on top of the larger folded portion of the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament.
Measure and cut the yarn.
Fold the yarn in half. Add glue to the innermost edge and place the cut ends of the yarn into the glue. Add a small amount of glue under the small flap and press in place.
Add a clip or clothespin to hold the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament until the glue dries.
The final step is to hang the pretty Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament on the tree.
With just a little time and a few inexpensive materials you can make several of these Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornaments. The hardest part of the project is allowing the glue to dry.
