Paper Strips Flower step 1 cut materials
Begin punching holes in the ends of each piece of cardstock.

Make the hole roughly 1/4 inch from the end and centered across the paper strip.
Paper Strips Flower step 2 punch holes
Make the holes in both ends of all of the paper strips.
Paper Strips Flower step 3 finish holes in both ends
Fold the yarn in half and anchor the folded end.

In this case, I used my pencil as the anchor.
Paper Strips Flower step 4 anchor yarn
Push the cut ends of the yarn through the first set of three of the paper strips.

Push it through one end of the longest strip, one end of the medium strip and one end of the shortest strip.

Next, push the yarn through the shortest strip, the medium strip and the longest strip to finish adding the first set of strips to the yarn.

Use the clothespin or binder clip to hold the strips on the yarn.

Hint: Work on a flat surface to prevent the sections from rotating around the yarn and getting tangled.
Paper Strips Flower step 5 add first three strips
Add the second set of three strips in the same way - large, medium, small then small, medium, and large.
Paper Strips Flower step 6 add next three strips
Add the remaining sets of three strips for a total of seven sections.
Paper Strips Flower step 7 finish adding strips
Pull the ends of the yarn together firmly but not too tightly.

The ends of the strips need to fit together around the circle of yarn.

Tie a knot in the yarn to secure the shape.
Paper Strips Flower step 8 pull and tie yarn
Bring the ends of the yarn together and tie a knot near the end to form a loop.

Trim the ends of the yarn.
Paper Strips Flower step 9 make loop
The pretty pink and burgundy Paper Strips Flower is finished and ready to hang on display.
