The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Yarn and Chenille Wire Heart Ornament:
Bend the first chenille wire at the halfway point - six inches.
Tie four of the 30-inch strands of yarn around the chenille wire at the bend.
Use a half knot rather than a hard or square knot.
Tie the yarns in the middle, which leaves an equal amount of yarn on each side of the knot.
On one side, separate the four strands into two on one side and two on the other of the chenille wire.
Begin wrapping the yarn around the chenille wire - this is wrapping, not braiding.
Begin by taking each side to the back of the chenille wire, overlapping the yarns and bringing them back to the front.
Continue wrapping the yarns by overlapping them in the front before taking them backward again.
Leave space between the overlaps such that the red of the chenille wire shows.
Continue wrapping the yarn back and forth until 3/4-inch from the end.
Circle the chenille wire with the yarns and secure the ends in a hard or square knot.
Perform the same steps for the second chenille wire and the second set of four 30-inch yarns.
Place the unwrapped ends of the chenille wires and the loose ends of the yarns back to back over the remaining 14-inch piece of yarn.
Tie the 14-inch yarn around the wires and all of the yarns in a hard or square knot.
Separate the strands of yarn and wrap the two chenille wires using the same process as earlier.
There should be five strands of yarn on each side - four long strands plus the end of the shorter yarn.
Wrap down the stems roughly 4 inches and tie a half knot. This knot will be untied later.
Gently curve the two individually wrapped wires to begin the heart shape.
Bring the end of one wire to the middle to form the first half of the heart.
Tie the yarns on the end of the individual wire around the two middle wires to secure the shape.
Use a hard or square knot.
Bring the second chenille wire to the middle and secure it like the first to make the second half of the heart.
Untie the loose knot around the two chenille wires and spread the yarns up and out of the way.
Break (or cut) the excess from the two chenille wires.
Leave roughly 1-inch of wire below the heart's point.
Fold the wire ends to hide the prickly points.
Fold up the bottom wires that were just broken.
Also fold the ends of the individual wires back onto themselves.
Spread the loose yarn over the folded ends of the chenille wire.
Trim off the excess yarns.
Insert the ribbon through each side of the heart.
Tie a knot in the ribbon ends to form the hanging loop.
Hang the fun Yarn and Chenille Wire Heart Ornament to add a smile or two or three.
This is a fast, easy and inexpensive project for everyone.
The results can be used as ornaments, package decorations or small remembrance gifts.
