Easy Christmas Crafts: Braided Ribbon Wreath Ornament Materials and Tools:
Ribbon - three pieces 1/4 inch wide by 12 to 14 inches long
Scissors
Ruler
I used three different ribbons with similar red and green colors in each ribbon.
The wreath would also be pretty made with three ribbons of different colors or three ribbons of the same color.
The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Braided Ribbon Wreath Ornament:
Cut the three ribbon lengths.
The completed wreath shown above used ribbons 12 inches long. The example steps below use ribbons of 14 inches long.
I prefer the smaller wreath for the 1/4 inch wide ribbons. The longer length would be better for wider ribbons, for example, 3/8 inch wide.
Secure the ribbons together with a knot 1 1/2 inches from the end.
Separate the three ribbons with one to the right, one in the middle and one to the left as shown here.
Begin braiding by folding the right ribbon over the center ribbon
Fold the left ribbon over the newly created middle ribbon.
Continue folding back and forth to braid the three ribbons together.
As the braid nears two inches from the end, tie a knot into the braid to secure the ribbons.
Insert the end knot in the braid through a loop in the braid adjacent to the beginning knot.
This picture shows the knot pulled through for illustration purposes. It shouldn't be pulled that far.
Next, insert the beginning knot through a loop in the braid adjacent to the end knot.
Inserting the knots into the braid form the circle for the braided ribbon wreath ornament.
Trim the ribbon ends at an angle.
Adjust the braid as needed to form the ribbon wreath.
Hang the braided ribbon wreath ornament on an ornament hook, a cabinet pull knob or anyplace to add a touch of cheerful color.
For the 1/4 inch wide ribbon, I prefer the smaller of the two sizes.
The smaller wreath holds its shape better with the narrow ribbon.
A wider ribbon would be better for the larger wreath ornament.
This fast, easy and inexpensive project is fun for everyone.
Plus, the results quickly add up for ornaments, package decorations or small remembrance gifts.
Make just a few or quite a lot of the ribbon wreaths quickly and inexpensively.
Have fun!
